intriguing listen, done very well

I am usually not a fan of dual time lines, but the main idea of this story was too intriguing to pass by even with the dual time lines. I was absolutely worth the listen and I actually think the dual time lines allows for a more satisfying conclusion and understanding to the story.

Good Story; Narration Off Her Mark

This was a good enough, entertaining story albeit one told in many ways before. I usually love Ms. Campbell’s narration, in fact this is the first time I’ve found room for improvement. Her attempt at a Jamaican accent fell far from the mark. It sounded Irish most of the time. And, she got better at her Norwegian accent but fell short there as well. Her German accent was spot on. Overall, it was really just the Jamaïcain that made me cringe several times. She’s still a star narrator!

Great book!

Enlightening story based on probability. Frightening what happens when evil men have the control. Amazing g how people can be led down such awful paths.

Under Darkening Skies by Day Kingfisher

Very, very good. A reminder of what decisions some have been forced to make, the repercussions and fear. War is horrible. Nothing new in all mans history. Hatred, jealousy, fear is so ruinous,but not new. Forgiveness is key! Thank-you.

Amazing

I love history, the good the bad and the ugly of it. This book is about the bad and the ugly of WW II. I knew about the women who, for the most part, were forced to have relations with Natzi SS Officers in order to create a “pure” nation however I haven’t come across a novel that discussed this horrible mission. This book is about love and loyalty and how people can change their thinking and make a horrible situation better. Enjoy

Engaging but dragged in parts

This historical novel views life during World War II from a different perspective than those I've read about in the past. The storyline kept me engaged, although the wordy writing style made it a little less enjoyable for me. I found Ingrid's story much more involving than the contemporary tale focused on her adult son. Overall, the book was memorable, and I learned something about life in Norway during the war. Overall rating: 3.5 stars rounded up

Very Good but Very Disturbing

I found 'Under The Darkening Skies' to be a really good book. The story is about a woman in Norway who gave birth to a lebensborn child during WWII. I have done a lot of reading about WWII as I am a history buff but didn't know this program even exist. I was really disturbed and saddened about the way the levensborn children where treated after the war. I am a history buff and found this very compelling. The narrators are fantastic and do a great job. I highly recommend it.

Good storytelling

Stories from this era are always good. I enjoyed the storyline, but had some trouble with the narration. Very breathy
